Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada’s Standard First Aid – Level C course is a comprehensive 2-day program designed to teach you essential skills to effectively respond to medical emergencies in the workplace, home or other setting. This course is designed to meet provincial workplace regulatory requirements* and covers cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), including responding to breathing, airway and circulation emergencies for adults, children and infants, as well as control of bleeding, shock, stabilizing fractures and dislocations, head and spine injuries, and more. This course is ideal for everyday people who want to be prepared for the unexpected.

This training is valid for 3 years, it is recommended by Heart & Stroke for an annual renewal of CPR/AED Skills.

Duration of Course - 16 hours

Welcome to the Winter Workshop Series. All one day workshops are at the Thunder Bay Public Library - Mary JL Black Location.

Workshops run from 10am-4pm.

$170.00 + HST per workshop, lunch is provided.

January 20 - Collective Safekeeping; Critical Incident Stress Debriefing - Participants will learn how to effectively coordinate and facilitate a debriefing circle following a critical incident.

February 3 - Case Management Foundations - Participants will learn the foundations of effective case management grounded in evidence based practice. Follow the phases of case management from engagement through action to ending, gain an understanding of a problem solving approach to service planning and goal setting. Learn to prepare for maintenance and generalization to achieve sustainable gains. Practice professional documentation. Move beyond conventional models of case management to understanding strength and person first decolonized ways of working with people.

March 3 - Mental Health in the North - Examine the unique factors that contribute to our mental health while living and working in the North. Participants will learn about common mental health conditions and learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms in themselves or others. We focus on supporting people to break down stigma and respond to mental health from a preventative approach. Suitable as an introduction for people new to mental health or as an opportunity for generative discussion for those with more experience. Introducing the ASSESS Framework for responding to mental health.

March 17 - Sharing Spaces; Diversity and Inclusion - This workshop opens conversations of appreciating our differences and creating spaces where we respect, understand and value individuals in our workplaces and communities.
